We have a dog named Snook. He is a black lab/golden retriever mix, and ever since the very first day we ever took him for a walk, he has been a “puller”.
I had debated purchasing many different kinds of leashes and collars that promised to stop Snook from taking us for a walk instead of us taking him, but every one of them are $30, $40, or $50! To me this wasn’t a fifty dollar problem. This was more like a 5 dollar problem.
So I found an inexpensive solution to our problem. I went out and bought a $1 small dog collar. Then I used it to put over Snook’s nose just like the expensive anti-pull collars do and ta da! It worked!
Here’s what you do….
First, go out and get a small dog colar. I bought a red one to match my dogs regular collar.
Second, attach it to the leash.
Third, attach your leash to your dog’s collar just like usual when getting ready for a walk.
Fourth, adjust the small collar and slip it over the dog’s nose so it doesn’t pull his nose down but doesn’t fall off when he drops his nose.
Our dog fights it for a few minutes by trying to scratch it off, but a small “correction” pull on the leash stops him just fine.
And now even our daughter can walk him without worrying about her being pulled to the ground (making sure she doesn’t accidentally let go is a different story, lol). It is so much better than dreading having to walk the dog.
